Brochure example
Brochures are another way for a company or organization to promote themselves or their mission. This example brochure has both pros and cons to its design and layout. The brochure is a full color tri-fold. The line is very effective in accordance to what the brochure is trying to do. I like the style of the layout with it being fun, but it seems very busy and my eyes are not sure where to go. I usually like bright colors, but in this situation I don’t believe that is does this brochure justice. I like the very professional brochures that lead your eyes to the main information. I don’t think that my mind can comprehend what is being stated due to all of the craziness. I think that that this brochure could be better if it had a more professional feel and layout. Mainly the colors could be toned down.
Advertisement Example
This ad is a good example of Image or lifestyle. The line is very effective, “Touching is believing.” I really like how the ad makes the product, Iphone, stick out in the full page advertisement. I believe that it would be a very effective advertisement to get someone to buy the new Iphone. The only thing I really do not like it that other than the Iphone brand, I don’t really know what I am going to buy. Is that the Iphone 4, Iphone 3, I pad or what? Only reason I know what they show is because I keep up with technology, but someone who does not and wants to get a new phone may not know what it is. I would put what the buyer should look for if they were to go into the store.

Logo thoughts
The John Deere emblem is very crisp and color oriented. People can recognize John Deere by the colors, the deer, or the words and be able to put products to these characterized pieces. I feel that this logo is very effective for the company!

Illustrator
This week we have started covering illustrator and it is hard for me to get the grasp of. I am really used to photoshop, so getting the hang of a new program is just a little bit harder. It is really fun to create things with illustrator that it is hard to create with photoshop though.

It is text only and it takes some practice like many things in photoshop, but it looks pretty cool!!!

Post card assignment
I officially finished my post card assignment yesterday and after doing everything it was not that bad. I actually liked making it and being creative on how I wanted everything to come together. It turned out great in my opinion, considering this is the first time I had to do anything like that. It is nice to use the practices we learn in class in a real life situation.

Photo Examples
This is an example of leading lines. The lines going both ways really draws your eyes into the subject. This makes the picture really interesting and fun to look at. This is a really great example of using several different types of leading lines in the same picture.
This is an example of framing. Dale Benfield used the metal to naturally frame in on the couple and make the focus be on them. The trees also give a little bit of framing also since they are on opposite corners which just helps in drawing the eyes back into the couple.
This picture is an example of rule of thirds. The picture is pretty simple and with the rule of thirds, it really draws your attention to the couple kissing. It could have been a little better, but it is still a great example.
All three pictures were jpeg from the photographers facebook pages.

Design Examples
The first example that I found is a really good example of closure. This shape is not complete, but when we as humans look at it our brains fill in the rest of the missing pieces. This is a 3-D shape, most would call a cube, but with the way closure is used here, we see it although it is still missing pieces.
This is a great photograph that I found that used leading lines to get its message across. The railroad tracks cause the eyes to follow them to the couple in the middle of the screen. The other parts of the background also use leading lines and it really ties together to make sure that your eyes are drawn in the right place. The photographer did a really good job at setting this photo up to capture the important part of the photo, the couple! This a an example of continuance.
